Wanted: A Priest and A King
This week I've already been schooled and challenged twice by the triperspectible offices of Christ's leadership - the perfect prophet, the perfect priest, the perfect king. On Sunday I watched Pastor Mark Driscoll's leadership video, urging me to consider my own leadership type, and then on Tuesday I heard Jamie Munson answering questions on those same leadership types.
What I found is that my leadership type falls into the 'Prophet' category, meaning that I love to proclaim/preach, teach, I hold onto doctrine, etc. Who I need to join with are a priest - someone who cares deeply for people, small group/community, people people etc, and a king - someone who's detailed, administrative, into systems, etc.
Long ago my support network encouraged me to build a core group. Unfortunately I ignored their advice, thinking that Taralyn and I could plant Access Church ourselves. Shortly after, I realized that we DO need others with us to plant this church, but who? So we started praying for people to come along with us in this mission. Now I'm realizing more specifically who we need to partner with to see a church established in Aldergrove.
Beyond these leadership types, we need people to be committed to the vision of planting this church. People who will give their time, specifically. I've run across a few people who want to see this vision realized, gifted people, skilled people, great people. People who want to partner in making it happen, but who are unable for one legitimate reason or another to devote the required amount of time to the vision of Access Church.
So here's what I'm looking for: people, specifically pastoral people-people (priests) and administrative people (kings), who have a vision for a new church in Aldergrove. I can offer no pay, no guarantee of 'success', likely times of conflict as we work out together what God's vision for Access might be, but also partnership, community support and accountability in our joint mission. The work will be hard, with hints of success and devastating failures. It will take people who fully buy in. Are you interested?
