This is how initial communication was made to parents of LEFC youth last night:
Dear Parents,
Over the last many months Chad and I have been processing through several realities regarding his fit ongoing for the youth ministry at LEFC. As I have been talking with Chad about this, Chad himself has been grappling with his ministry style and ministry heart as it has been moving into areas beyond youth ministry in a local church. As I have been connecting with Chad and with our personnel team and elders, we felt led to embrace the very difficult reality of a transition for Chad out of his role of LEFC Youth Pastor. We love Chad so dearly and are grieved to see him go, but also know with Chad that God has a new season of ministry for him and Taralyn.
Chad's desire is to complete his time July 1st. We will be giving him a package to help he and Taralyn transition and settle into what is next for them. Chad loves the youth dearly and with him, we realize this transition can cause some instability and change for our youth. We will immediately be beginning a search for a new youth pastor; we have already begun getting organized with this.
In the meantime, Paul Gonzalez has agreed to give leadership during the transition to ensure that youth functions continue to run during the coming months. Paul has been involved with the youth ministry as a leader for the past number of months, and brings an incredible amount of energy, passion and love for these kids; he will help fill a gap with both the youth ministry and the Jr. youth ministry that we will be launching in July, allowing us to move ahead. Meghan Hitchman who recently joined the youth leadership team (a student at Trinity Western University), will continue to help provide leadership with Paul; together they will provide continuity and ensure continued momentum and care for these kids.
We will keep you updated as our plans unfold; as well, we will be planning a time to have a gathering for the parents of youth so that we can personally connect with all of you. In the meantime please feel free to contact myself or Chad at any time if you would like to talk about this.
Please know, that we will also be planning a time of celebration and honoring of Chad and Taralyn as they prepare for what is next.
In Christ,
Darren
and Chad
Chaddy! Wow, I am surprised to read your blog (I read all 3 entries but thought I'd just comment once). I didn't know you were thinking of leaving LEFC! I hear your passion and your heart for what you feel God is calling you to, and leading you into. I admire you for taking this leap of faith and for diving in to what God has planned for your life - yours and your family.
ReplyDeleteI pray that this change and this time in your life will help alleviate this sadness you feel, this hole that's been waiting to get filled up!
Oh... and I'm glad you started a blog :) I'll be stopping by often to see what you're up to!
