Worship Leading thru Preaching

God has called me to lead people in worship. Years back my big question about calling was whether I was called to be a Matt Redman or a Mike Pilavachi. I love leading worship, but something about Mike P's ministry captured me. That seems to be the direction I'm led, but that doesn't negate a worship ministry. Timothy Keller reminds preachers that Sunday morning gatherings are called 'worship services' buy, he asks, how much worship happens beyond the singing? The preacher, the sermon itself, should draw people into a space and experience of awe, wonder... worship.
I love to lead worship with singing on my guitar. People have confirmed my gift in doing this effectively. But what I'm called to now is worship ministry beyond singing, beyond music and guitars and chords. To lead people to worship Jesus by opening the Scriptures, reminding them of the Gospel and salvation and the love of God, and releasing them to express their thanks and love for Him through music, and also by the way they live their lives (Romans 12).
I would tell any starting-out worship leader who asks that their first priority is to minister to the Lord. That advice comes back to me now as a starting-out worship leading preacher.
